The Future Is Almost Here:
Port Everglades Terminal 18 Construction Progresses

Port Everglades Terminal 18 is being purpose-built for Royal Caribbean's Oasis-class ships, and it will be the largest single-ship cruise terminal in the world. It will feature 102,000 square feet of space on two levels dedicated to embarking passengers and an entirely separate 138,000 square feet of space for passengers disembarking. To keep the outside traffic flowing smoothly, the terminal will have separate entrances and traffic routes for buses, trucks, taxis and cars.
The two-level embarkation area will feature 90 check-in positions. This view is showing these as passengers will see them as they enter the main terminal entrance. Obviously, there's still a lot missing, but it will be ready in time for Oasis' November arrival.
This is a view from the upper level of the embarkation area looking down toward the main entrance. When the ship is boarding, the goal is to have passengers aboard in 15 minutes from the time they enter the front door. This includes through the security and check-in processes. Port Everglades realizes many passengers these days are arriving well before the ship is ready for boarding, so comfortable seating for 3,000 people will be provided on the second level. To make their wait more entertaining, there will be charging stations for electrical devices and free wireless internet access for those traveling with their laptops. There will also be a playground for children inside the terminal.
The green and blue terrazzo floor in the atrium will be decorated with a 3,000-square-foot work of art commissioned from internationally-renowned artist Michele Oka Doner. His sketches for parts of it are show above.
