Independence of the Seas Arrives at Port Everglades

Royal Caribbean's 160,000-ton Independence of the Seas arrived at Ft. Lauderdale for the first time this morning, becoming the largest cruise ship ever to homeport at Port Everglades.

The port says that in one year alone, Independence of the Seas will bring nearly 160,000 passengers to Broward County (Florida), who will help support more than 420 local jobs and generate an economic impact of approximately $67.5 million.

While the above video report from local news does contain some errors in the reporter's copy, it does give you some perspective on how the ship's arrival is being covered in the local media.
