AIDAsol Goes Down the River

AIDAsol left Meyer Werft Friday morning (March 11, 2011) traveling backwards down Ems River accompanied by two tugboats.
Thanks to the excellent weather conditions, the ship was able to average a speed of 1.5 knots for the journey.
All along the route local people came to the riverbanks to watch the ship make the precarious journey. A weekday transit is rather unusual, so the numbers were smaller than normal. The conveyance was moved up a day to take advantage the better weather, and it paid off with a total time for the trip of just nine and a half hours.

AIDAsol will be christened in Kiel on April 9, and enter service the next day.
